Plantation Shutters in a Sunset Beach, NC Coastal Home

Project Overview

This Sunset Beach home has large windows that allow abundant natural light. After purchasing the home, the homeowners completed an extensive remodel, updating most of its features while leaving the existing woven-wood Roman shades in place.

They wanted better control over direct sunlight, more flexible privacy, less dust and smoother operation, but most of all, they wanted a cleaner, more coastal-contemporary appearance that complemented the newly remodeled home.

​

We designed, manufactured and installed custom plantation shutters to replace the old shades and complement the home's updated coastal style.

• 3 1/2-inch louvers for a coastal contemporary look

• Ultra-View louver control for a clean appearance and effortless operation

• Cali Snow paint color to complement the interior trim

• Inside mount to highlight the window trim

  • windows still tilt in for easy cleaning​

• Because of the tall kitchen faucet, the shutter above the sink was installed with magnets rather than hinges, allowing it to be easily removed for cleaning.

• Hybrid construction COMBINES A SOLID WOOD FRAME WITH POLY LOUVERS FOR A PREMIUM APPEARANCE AND ADDED RESISTANCE TO HUMIDITY AND WARPING

The finished installation created a crisp, built-in look that provided the finishing touch the remodel needed to truly feel complete.

Our Solution

We measured every opening individually so each shutter could be built for the dimensions, trim and mounting conditions of that specific window.

​

• The inside-mount design allows the existing window trim to remain visible, while the custom fit gives the shutters a built-in appearance that complements the home's remodeled interior.​

• The kitchen window required an additional custom solution. Because the tall faucet interfered with a traditionally hinged shutter panel, we mounted that shutter with magnets so it can be easily removed when needed.

• THE WIDE LOUVERS AND SMOOTH FINISH ARE EASIER TO CLEAN THAN THE OLD WOVEN-WOOD ROMAN SHADES

• THE ULTRA-VIEW LOUVER CONTROL PROVIDES SMOOTH OPERATION WITHOUT A VISIBLE CENTER TILT ROD
